Dick Benschop Leaves Schiphol

15-09-2022 Schiphol Group announced on 15 September that Dick Benschop has resigned from his position as President and CEO.

Dick Benschop made his position available to the supversisory board on 14 September. The supervisory board has agreed to this and is looking for a successor as soon as possible. Benschop will remain in office until his successor is appointed.

Benschop states that he has made this decision because of the attention and criticism for the way in which Schiphol is tackling the current problem, as well as the criticism on his responsibility as CEO. He indicates that he does not want the attention for his person to become an obstacle for Schiphol. By making his position available, he wants to give Schiphol the space for a new start.

Dick Benschop has been CEO of Schiphol Group since 2014. He says the following about his departure: 'The situation at Schiphol and what that means for our travelers and employees is close to my heart. I've done my very best, but we're not there yet. I do hope it gets better soon. I love Schiphol. Managing this company was a great honor for me.'

Due to the situation and the continuing bad news, the Supervisory Board has had very intensive contact with Schiphol's executive board in the recent months. All options for improvement have been and are discussed. In the meantime, the supervisory board will remain in close contact with the executive board about the situation at Schiphol and the measures to be taken.
