Theo Spierings new CEO ForFarmers

15-11-2022 The supervisory board of ForFarmers N.V. nominates Theo Spierings as the new CEO as of 1 January 2023.

Theo Spierings will succeed Chris Deen, who had to resign after a very short time due to health complications. An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders is expected to be convened for this purpose in January 2023. After his studies in food technology at the HAS in Den Bosch, Theo Spierings started his career at Friesland Foods, where he held various management positions and was appointed acting CEO in 2007. From 2011 to 2019 he was CEO of Fonterra. In 2020 he founded his own consultancy firm The Purpose Factory, where he mainly focused on the agricultural sector.

Spierings indicates that he has always felt very involved with the farmers and the agricultural sector, certainly at this moment. He indicates that it is very important to optimize the food chain and to make it more sustainable. He is looking forward to take on this assignment and add direction to it.

The chairman of the Supervisory Board of ForFarmers, Jan van Nieuwenhuizen, responds: “We are very pleased to be able to nominate Theo Spierings as CEO. He has impressive international experience in the dairy industry and also an enormous drive and knowledge to help the agricultural sector to be future-proof and at the same time to become more sustainable. During his career he has led or advised many change processes. His energy and decisiveness, and at the same time his focus on connection, are characteristic of his way of operating. We believe that Theo Spierings has the experience, knowledge and character traits to lead ForFarmers in the current phase.”
