Adyen CTO Alexander Matthey Steps Down

10-01-2024 Adyen announced that Alexander Matthey is stepping down at the end of his current term, on December 31, 2024.

Alexander Matthey has been with Adyen since 2015, where he started as Vice President Integrations Germany. He has served as Chief Technology Officer and member of the Executive Board since 2021.

Matthey is stepping down from his position due to his family life. He states: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Adyen and know that the company is only at the outset of what it can achieve. However, balancing leading Adyen based out of Amsterdam and the company’s many global offices with my family life in Berlin has driven my decision to not commit for another four years.”

Adyen says Matthey's announced departure gives the company ample time to find a successor, and that both internal and external candidates are being considered in the search.

“Throughout his career at Adyen, Alexander held various leadership roles wherein he made substantial contributions to how we have scaled our engineering teams, our technology, and Adyen as a whole”, says Pieter van der Does, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Adyen. “While summing up all of his contributions, we can proudly look back at all the impact he made”.
