23-05-2024 With effect from May 22, 2024, Roland Boekhout has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Volksbank.

Boekhout brings over thirty years of international experience in the banking sector. He has held various commercial and managerial positions at ING Group and Commerzbank. In 2017, he joined the Management Board Banking of ING Group, where he was responsible for banking activities in the Benelux. After leaving ING Group, he became a member of the Board of Managing Directors at Commerzbank, where he was globally responsible for corporate clients. Before taking on his role as CEO of Volksbank, Boekhout was a senior advisor at McKinsey & Company.

Boekhout succeeds Martijn Gribnau, who announced in December 2023 that he would not seek a second term as CEO. He was appointed by shareholder NLFI, at the nomination of the supervisory board. The works council has advised and supports the appointment. The appointment has also been approved by the European Central Bank. Boekhout's term will extend until the General Meeting of Shareholders in 2028.

Gerard van Olphen, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volksbank, is delighted to welcome Boekhout as CEO: "Roland brings extensive experience in the financial sector. He is known as a connecting and inspiring leader with a strong customer focus and substantial expertise in managing complex (digital) transformation projects in a regulated environment. I am confident that Roland's background makes him exceptionally well-suited to lead the transition towards a future-proof bank."
