Two New Supervisory Directors Rabobank

12-07-2023 At Rabobank's General Members' Council, Gail Klintworth and Matthew Elderfield were appointed as members of the Supervisory Board. They took office effective June 28, 2023.

Gail Klintworth spent much of her career at Unilever, including as ceo of Unilever South Africa, global senior vice president of savoury foods and most recently as chief sustainability officer. She currently chairs the board of trustees of Shell Foundation and is a non-executive director at GlobeScan and Savo Project Developers.

Matthew Elderfield is described by Rabobank as an adept banker with knowledge of, and experience in, compliance. He was chief risk officer at Nordea from 2019 to 2022 and was also a past supervisor in Great Britain, as well as at the Central Bank of Ireland.

Marjan Trompetter, chairman of the supervisory board, expects the supervisory board to be solidly strengthened by Klintworth's deep expertise and experience in sustainability, and with Elderfield's knowledge of and experience in the full breadth of the risk business - as well as his experience as a bank executive and supervisor.

Trompetter: "Based on the broad executive and international experience of both Gail and Matthew, in addition to supervising the bank, they will also be able to advise the Executive Board particularly well on both substantive and managerial matters. Both are very well attuned to current (social) issues. Their extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of sustainability, culture, risk management and diversity & inclusion make Gail and Matthew a welcome addition to the board."
