Hein Schumacher New Non-executive Director at Unilever
27-06-2022 Unilever announced on June 22 that Hein Schumacher will be appointed as a non-executive director effective October 4, 2022.
Hein Schumacher has been CEO of FrieslandCampina since 2018 and was previously CFO at the dairy cooperative for about four years. He has also held various roles in finance and operations at Kraft Heinz in the past, worked some years at Ahold and started his career as a trainee at Unilever.
Nils Andersen, chairman of Unilever, is delighted with the appointment of Schumacher: 'He has a strong track record in international consumer goods and will bring a deep understanding of our industry and the environment in which we are operating. We look forward to benefitting from his insight and experience.'
FrieslandCampina's supervisory board has approved Schumacher's new additional position, seeing that the supervisory board membership can provide added value for the dairy group. At the same time, Schumacher is ending his work as a supervisory director at C&A.
On accepting the position of non-executive director Schumacher says: 'Unilever is one of the largest consumer goods companies in the world, and this supervisory position offers the opportunity to better understand how they deal with subjects that are also clearly relevant to FrieslandCampina. For example, rising raw material prices, relationships with governments and making the business model more sustainable. Of course I also hope to be able to add value to Unilever and to help with dilemmas in their business operations. Naturally, I am very aware of the task I face as CEO of FrieslandCampina and you can expect that FrieslandCampina will always come first in the coming years. I will remain fully committed to our company, and will use the knowledge and contacts I gain at Unilever where possible for our company.'
