Shell simplifies Executive Committee

30-01-2023 Shell is changing the size of its Executive Committee from seven to five members. This is part of improving execution of the Power-Progress strategy.

The former position of Wael Sawan, Director Integrated Gas, Renewables & Energy Solutions, will be split. Effective July 1, the current Upstream Director, Zoe Yujnovich, will become Integrated Gas & Upstream Director. The current Director Downstream, Huibert Vigeveno, will become Director Downstream & Renewables.

The position of Ed Daniels, Director Strategy, Sustainability & Corporate Relations, will be eliminated effective July 1. Corporate relations will report directly to CEO Wael Sawan. Strategy & Sustainability will report directly to CFO Sinead Gorman. Ed Daniels will step down and leave the company as a result. Ed Daniels was with Shell for 34 years, the Board wishes him best for the future.

Wael Sawan on the reorganization: "I am making these changes as part of the natural and ongoing evolution of Shell. Our main goal is to provide safe and profitable energy to our customers and to help them, and us, become carbon-free. I believe that fewer interfaces means more collaboration, discipline and speed, so we can focus on improving the performance of all business and generating strong returns for our investors. Shell is a great company and we are changing to make sure we become a great investment as well. Simplifying the way the organization works, in pursuit of better performance, is critical to achieving that."
