Philips CEO Frans van Houten Steps Down, Roy Jakobs Successor
16-08-2022 Philips announced on August 16 that Frans van Houten is stepping down from his position as CEO. Roy Jakobs (photo) will succeed him as of October 15, 2022.
Frans van Houten has been CEO of Philips since 2011.The Supervisory Board and Van Houten have agreed that with the end of his third term in sight, the time is right for the change in leadership.
After an evaluation of external and internal candidates, the supervisory board has unanimously decided to propose Roy Jakobs as the next CEO of Royal Philips to its general meeting of shareholders. Jakobs has been with Philips since 2010 in various roles. In 2018 he joined the executive committee, first as Chief Business Leader Personal Health, from 2020 as Chief Business Leader Connected Care. Philips indicates that he brings a strong international, operational and transformational track record, as well as a deep understanding of Philips.
Jakobs' appointment will be discussed at an extraordinary shareholders' meeting on September 30. Van Houten will remain available as an advisor until April 30, 2023 to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
