Frederieke Leeflang steps down as NPO Board Chair
07-03-2025 The NPO has announced that Frederieke Leeflang, in consultation with the Supervisory Board, has decided to step down from her role as Board Chair.
Frederieke Leeflang had served as Board Chair of NPO since 2022. Her departure follows persistent complaints about a culture of fear and her behavior. Frederieke Leeflang: 'For more than three years, I have devoted myself wholeheartedly to one primary goal: serving the public broadcaster. The public broadcaster faces significant challenges and plays an essential role in our society. It should not be the case that discussions about me stand in the way of that mission.'
The Supervisory Board thanks Frederieke Leeflang for her dedication to the public broadcaster and the NPO in particular. Board member Lucien Brouwer will temporarily take over her responsibilities. In the short term, the Supervisory Board will provide more information about the interim leadership so that the public broadcaster can fully focus on the course set under Leeflang’s leadership.
