Jan van Halst appointed general manager ad interim Ajax
04-09-2023 Ajax announced on 4 September that it has appointed Jan van Halst as Managing Director ad interim with immediate effect.
Jan van Halst has been temporarily appointed as Ajax's Managing Director until such time as Alex Kroes can be appointed. With his appointment, Van Halst steps down as Supervisory Director at Ajax, a position he held since May this year.
Currently, Kroes is still under contract at AZ, until 1 September. Two months ago, Alex Kroes was nominated by Ajax as the prospective new Managing Director. In this role, he succeeds Edwin van der Sar, who stepped down in May after 11 years on the Ajax board.
It is still unclear when Alex Kroes' appointment as Managing Director will be finalised. Due to a non-compete clause in his contract at AZ, it could be months before he can start.
