Jitse Groen steps down as ceo of Just Eat Takeaway

02-12-2025 Jitse Groen will step down as ceo of Just Eat Takeaway on January 1, 2026. Groen founded Thuisbezorgd.nl in 2000, which experienced impressive growth in the years that followed.

What started as a student idea in Enschede transformed under his leadership into Just Eat Takeaway.com (JET), one of the world's largest online delivery services. Through strategic mergers and acquisitions, such as with Lieferando in 2014 and JustEat in 2020, Groen expanded the company into a dominant player with millions of customers and partners in sixteen countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Earlier this year, it was announced that Prosus wanted to acquire Just Eat Takeaway, and the acquisition was completed in October.

Groen will be succeeded by Roberto Gandolfo, who is currently chairman of the supervisory board of Just Eat Takeaway and head of Prosus Europe. Gandolfo was previously ceo of iFood. His appointment as the new ceo of Just Eat Takeaway is still subject to approval by De Nederlandsche Bank. He had this to say about his new challenge: “I am delighted to be joining at this crucial moment and to be working closely with the leaders of Just Eat Takeaway to open the next chapter of growth for the company through innovation and optimal execution.”
