02-12-2024 Tanja Cuppen has been appointed as the new chair of Rivierenland Water Authority. She will succeed acting chair Goos den Hartog and start on December 1, 2024.
Tanja Cuppen has been appointed by royal decree as the new chair of Rivierenland Water Authority. The chair, also known in Dutch as the 'dijkgraaf', is responsible for overseeing water management and flood protection. She will succeed acting chair Goos den Hartog and begin her six-year term on December 1, 2024. The General Board of Rivierenland Water Authority decided in June this year to nominate Cuppen for this position.
Cuppen is a new face in the water sector but has an impressive background in finance. She worked in the financial sector for thirty years and was most recently the Chief Risk Officer on the executive board of ABN AMRO. She is also a supervisory board member at health insurer Menzis and a member of the Advisory Committee on Customized Agreements for Industry Sustainability.
In her new role, Cuppen aims to use her leadership experience to tackle challenges related to water quality, water levels, and flood protection. "I look forward to working with residents, businesses, governments, and other stakeholders to contribute to sustainable solutions for the growing water challenges," said Cuppen.
