Klaas Dijkhoff appointed as member NS supervisory board
08-03-2024 Klaas Dijkhoff has been appointed as a member of the supervisory board of NS by the shareholder - the Ministry of Finance - as of March 6. He succeeds Nebahat Albayrak, whose term expired last year.
Dijkhoff was elected as a member of the House of Representatives in 2010. In 2015, he became the State Secretary for Security and Justice. Between 2017 and 2021, he served as the parliamentary leader of the VVD in the House of Representatives. Dijkhoff is a co-founder of Sue & The Alchemists, a strategy firm specialized in changing reputation and behavior. Additionally, he serves as a supervisor at the football club PSV.
Herman Dijkhuizen, chairman of the NS supervisory board, stated: "Klaas Dijkhoff knows the societal context of NS like no other. He also has a strong focus on IT, consensus, and customer experience. These domains remain essential for NS. I expect him to be a strong addition to the supervisory board and a good sparring partner for the Board of Directors."
Klaas Dijkhoff: "The train gives you the freedom to travel anywhere. The greater NS's success, the more advantageous it is for the Netherlands. Every day, thousands of people at NS work hard to transport more than a million Dutch people to their destinations. Those people motivate me to contribute to our national carrier."
The Central Works Council used the so-called 'strengthened recommendation right' in the appointment of Klaas Dijkhoff. In addition to the appointment of Mr Dijkhoff, supervisory board member Janet Stuijt has been reappointed for the second time as of March 6. Stuijt, a member since 2016, chairs the remuneration and nomination committee. She is reappointed for an extra two years, in line with the Dutch corporate governance code.
