Lieve Declercq Appointed as New CEO of Strukton
07-01-2025 Construction company Strukton has announced that Lieve Declercq will take on the role of CEO starting March 1. Declercq, currently CEO of technical service provider Spie Nederland, will succeed interim CEO Rob van Wingerden.
Van Wingerden, who recently announced his departure, focused during his interim period on strengthening Strukton’s focus on rail construction and restoring trust among clients, suppliers, banks, and auditors. This was necessary after a turbulent period under former CEO and shareholder Gerard Sanderink. While Strukton has made progress, Declercq faces a complex challenge. The aftermath of disputes surrounding major construction projects, such as the RIVM building in Utrecht and Groningen’s central station, remains palpable. These projects previously led to significant write-offs that impacted the company’s profitability.
Declercq, born and raised in Flanders, brings experience from the technical and infrastructure sectors. She has a background in industrial engineering from the Catholic University of Leuven and held leadership roles at ExxonMobil, Van Gansewinkel (now Renewi), and Vitens. Under her leadership, Spie Nederland previously acquired parts of Strukton, such as Grid Solutions and Worksphere.
As the new CEO, Declercq is tasked with further improving Strukton’s profitability and advancing its enhanced strategy. This appointment marks an important step for Strukton in stabilizing and strengthening its leadership after a period of change.
