Berte Simons new COO Port of Rotterdam
07-11-2024 Port of Rotterdam Authority has announced that Berte Simons will become the new COO effective January 1, 2025.
Port of Rotterdam has announced that Berte Simons will become the new COO effective January 1, 2025. She succeeds Boudewijn Siemons, who has served as interim COO since February 2024 in addition to serving as CEO.
Simons brings extensive expertise as a marine engineer and has experience with complex infrastructure projects in ports and industrial areas. Her career began at North Sea Port as a policy officer and she later held various management positions at Royal HaskoningDHV, where she worked on international projects in the mining, heavy industry, aviation and maritime sectors. She is currently working at Energie Beheer Nederland (EBN) as director of the CO2 storage and transport business unit.
The Supervisory Board is pleased with Simons' arrival. Koos Timmermans, chairman of the supervisory board, states, “Berte's international experience and leadership are exactly what we need for a successful transition to a fossil-free and circular port.‘’
