Gwendolyn van Tunen new CFCO of de Volksbank

24-06-2024 The executive board of de Volksbank has appointed Gwendolyn van Tunen as Chief Financial Crime Officer (CFCO) as of June 24.

Van Tunen has over 25 years of experience in the financial sector, including roles in compliance, corporate governance and operations. She previously worked at ABN AMRO for 23 years, where she held the position of Chief Compliance Officer for the last seven years.

Van Tunen has been appointed as CFCO and a member of the executive committee with immediate effect. The appointment has been approved by the supervisory board and the supervisor.

Gerard van Olphen, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of de Volksbank, expressed his satisfaction with Van Tunen's appointment: ‘With this appointment, I am confident that de Volksbank now has the necessary decisiveness to accelerate the structural implementation of its gatekeeper function.’

As of November 1, 2023, de Volksbank created the position of CFCO within the executive committee. The CFCO ensures that the bank effectively fulfills its role as a gatekeeper in the fight against financial crime. This role includes combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
