Steven Maijoor Leaves De Nederlandsche Bank

17-08-2026 Steven Maijoor will step down as a member of the Executive Board of De Nederlandsche Bank effective March 1, 2027, and will become Chair of the Trustees of the IFRS Foundation.

Steven Maijoor joined the executive board of DNB in 2021, where he was responsible for banking supervision, supervisory policy, and legal affairs. Since February 2024, he has also served as chair of the supervisory committee within the executive board. In addition, he served on European and international bodies in the field of financial supervision, including the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank. His successor will be announced at a later date.

Maijoor becomes chair of the Trustees of the IFRS Foundation, the international organization responsible for developing global financial reporting standards, including the well-known IFRS accounting standards.

Maijoor says: "DNB is a unique public organization, at the heart of society and with a broad range of responsibilities. Over the past few years, I have worked with great pleasure and conviction to strengthen supervision, and I am proud of what we have achieved together. This was only possible thanks to the many talented and dedicated employees at DNB. A new phase is beginning for me, in which I will focus on governance and supervisory roles. The chairmanship of the Trustees of the IFRS Foundation will be the focal point of this.”

Olaf Sleijpen, President of DNB, says: “We will miss Steven as a highly valued colleague. He has served DNB and the supervision of banks and other financial institutions with great expertise and dedication. His contribution to the quality and effectiveness of supervision has been of great value.”
